Founded in 1994, Big Wild Advocates
is a service organization designed to
support and enhance the efforts of
cutting-edge wildland groups.
With our vast experience on the
front lines of wildland conservation,
we identify various areas in which
vital work is needed, and we do it.
Big Wild Advocates was founded by, and is run by Howie Wolke and Marilyn Olsen, two of the most experienced public land conservationists in our country. Marilyn and Howie also run our sister organization, Big Wild Adventures, and in that capacity Howie is probably the most experienced wilderness backpacking guide in the United States.
